    Here, Ilchi, former frontman of a Beijing Pnk band has teamed up with graduates from the Inner Mongolia Conservatory, trained in the powerfully evocative sounds of the morin huur (horse-head fiddle) and the guttural Mongol singing style. Mixing by Matteo Scumaci adds some cool beats and an occasionally Tarantino-esque flavour to the songs, giving the style a more contemporary feel.

    乐队的名字“杭盖”来自古蒙古语，意指拥有蓝天，大山和清泉的草原美景。乐队成员表演时身着传统蒙古族服饰，演奏“马头琴”和“两弦班卓琴”这两件世界上最古老的乐器，用现代音乐的手法重新演绎蒙古族传唱了千年的优美律调，把观众们带到绝美的“杭盖”盛景。
    而乐队的“呼麦”演奏技巧，更是蒙古族流传了超过2000年的独特声乐技巧，可以在同一嗓子里同时发出两个不同的高低音。
    更难能可贵的是，他们并没有把自己的音乐，仅仅局限在蒙古族社区内，而是走向了北京，走向了世界。在他们的音乐里，我们可以听到中国年轻音乐人在文化传统与现代性之间所掌握到的完美平衡。
